Lun Gywe (1930)
lun Gywe was born in 1930. He is considered the greatest living
respected master artist and impressionist
of Myanmar. U
Lun Gywe studied art at the Institute of Teacher’s Training
and continued to learn under U Thet Win, U Chit Maung, U San Win,
U Ngwe Gaing and U Thein Han. In 1964, U Lun Gywe went to China to
study oriental art and oil painting at the Beijing Central Institute
of Fine Art. Later in 1971, the artist went to East Germany to attend
a course in painting restoration.
U Lun Gywe’s art displays
the artist’s joy at interpreting
the beauty of his native land and its peoples. Many of his paintings
are about the voluptuousness of Burmese women, the grace of female
dancers and colorful flowers.
U Lun Gywe participated in many art
shows and competitions outside of Burma such as Japan, Korea, Australia,
USA, Singapore and Thailand.
