Nang Hien (1921)
Nang Hien was born in 1921. At the age of seven, he followed his artist uncle
Tran Quang Hien to learn painting. Later, the budding artist took art courses
in the ABC School. In order to deepen his learning experience, Le Nang Hien
sent his paintings to France to have them critiqued by art professors.
the age of 75 (1996), he organized a one-man show where seventy-five
of his paintings were purchased by a “Viet Kieu” collector
(Vietnamese living abroad).
Nang Hien specializes in silk paintings, which highly praise
the Vietnamese culture and tradition. His largest work—the
Bach Dang Giang Battlefield—is kept in the Museum of History
in Hanoi. Besides painting, Le Nang Hien writes novels.

now. They can only be seen in the Fine Arts Museum of Vietnam
and private collections.
