Mayeur De Merpres Adrien Jean (1880-1958)
Le Mayeur was born in Brussels and settled in Bali, Indonesia in 1932. He
married the famous Legong dancer, Ni Nyoman Pollok who also became his muse.
Upon his death, the artist donated his house and studio in Sanur, Bali, with
his remaining paintings to the Indonesian Government, now known as the Le Mayeur
Museum. In his impressionistic sketchy style, his works often portray Balinese
women with a suggestion of fantastical exoticism.
